CURRENT ACTIVITIESWe are preparing to visit English Martyrs Primary School in Worthing in March, to help Year 3 and 4 pupils make a dragon which will live outside, looking after its treasure trove. Before that, Lyn is participating in International Women's Day ( March 12th) at the Laburnum Centre, Lyon Street, Bognor 10-4, inviting people to try weaving on a circular loom or a peg loom.We are taking part in a drop in day in Coldean for women from minority groups; we'll be felting and knitting. We are also planning our participation in the Eco Summit with EYE, at Worthing High, on May 3rd. The Big Draw project was very successful, and the resulting drawings on acetate make a great installation. Arrangements for it to be on display in the Library, and the Town Hall are under way. We are part of the design team for the new outdoor performance area at Oak Grove College, Worthing; our first phase with them was mask making, using weather resistant materials, in the first week of November; the second phase is a week, later in Spring, when we will be making panels for a set of periaktoi. At Southlands Hospital we continue to support craft and art activities every week, involving patients in the Stroke Rehab Unit in felt-making, collage, papier mache, etc Textile workshops, introducing textile techniques such as felting, puffing, furrowing, stuffing, stabbing and cording, couching and bonding - and many more! are currently taking place at 15 St Botolph's Road in Worthing, Thursdays 10.30-12.30, £5 per session, for materials and refreshments. Moving Stitchers is a local community arts
project based in Worthing, West Sussex. The aim of the project is to
share textiles skills with people of all ages and abilities.
Workshops, adapted for the age, ability and interests of the participants, take place at the premises of any group or institution. We can come to you. We also participate in local arts based events e.g. Artists' Open Houses and Charity Fairs. We hope to participate in a wider range of local events in the coming year. We want to create connections between different groups of people through the enjoyment of working with textiles. You can contact us by logging onto the message board on this website (it's really simple), or texting 07931 151165. |
