Who are the Moving Stitchers?

Helen Fallowfield, Caroline Hibbs, Hazel Imbert and Lyn Leese are women textile artists who live in the area of Worthing, West Sussex, UK.

They met while studying Experimental Textiles at Northbrook College. Their tutor, Kim Thittichai, is one of the foremost textile artists in the country, and a leader in experimental techniques.

After mounting a groundbreaking exhibition with fellow course members, based on the role of textiles in marking the end of life, entitled 'NECROTEX', they became members of the Angelico textile group – 10 women textile artists, working together to develop skills and techniques, to mount exhibitions, and sell work at local art-based events.

Chewing the fat at one such event in December 2007, Helen started a hare; this was to have a shop selling the lovely things that all textile fans like to swoon over. Discussion of this, and that, resulted in the idea of a mobile skill-sharing outfit, outreaching
to bring the joy and solace of working with textiles to all ages and abilities across the community. Big idea.
