Hazel Imbert

I studied experimental textiles techniques with Kim Thittichai for 3 years.

Since then I have been with a group of Kim's former students - 'Angelico' we create exhibitions, and take part in Artists' Open Houses.

Out of 'Angelico' we formed Moving Stitchers, to share the textile skills we enjoy so much.

Hazel Imbert - Shroud

Shroud

I made this shroud for the 'Necrotex' exhibition in 2005, out of the shirts of my husband and children. The sleeves are like their arms wrapped round me.

Push Don't Push

This piece was for our 'Maternal' exhibition. It represents the conflicting roles of a mother - to push her child out into the world, and to hold the child close.

Workshops

After a life ot teaching and performing, I really enjoy the workshops we do. Whether it's with friends in my workroom, or children in a library, or in a tent at a fair - it's the best fun!

Experiment!

We attached various fabrics to needle punched felt with stitches, and then felted it. The results were amazing!
