I came to textile art late in life. It wasn’t until I retired from work that I had the time to really indulge, although I have always had an interest in art. I enrolled on many classes covering both art and embroidery. However, the course that really sparked my imagination was called “Creative Textiles”, which was based at The Connaught college in Hove. The tutor, Kim Thittichai, was inspirational. Not only did it bring my two main interests together, but I learnt many amazing and exciting techniques. A whole new world opened up for me and now I want to do nothing else!

Havana

This reflects the crumbing but once beautiful buildings of Havana, and was made for an exhibition entitled ‘Faded Glory. It was made from furnishing fabric, hand-dyed cotton, silk and scrim and painted ‘tyvek’. Dylon ‘Image Maker’ was also used for superimposing images.
